Sky Movies Branded & Themed Train

Branded and Themed Charter Train For Cake's Launch Of Sky Go

Train Chartering provided a themed private charter train for a return service, London Euston - Birmingham New Street, on 22nd December 2011 as part of Cake Group's launch of Sky Movies' new service, Sky Go, which will give customers yet more control and choice over how, when and where they enjoy Sky.

The charter train journey followed the exclusive use of a station platform and some themed carriages at Alresford Station on the Mid-Hants Railway earlier in December for a photo shoot to support the launch of Sky Go.

The Sky Go 'Movies Express' was a specially chartered train that brought some movie magic to the journey for passengers who were lucky enough to get a free ticket. The Movies Express travelled from London's Euston Station to Birmingham New Street Station and back.

The four train carriages were given a movie-themed makeover inspired by titles featured on the Sky Movies Christmas schedule. Take a seat in Narnia, experience Mary Poppins' London or be transported back to the 1940s in elegant surroundings inspired by 'It's a Wonderful Life' and 'The Kings Speech'.

The journey coincided with the popular Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market & Craft Fair, a mile-long festive attraction with over 180 stalls, which is the largest authentically German Christmas Market outside German and Austria.

From the Sky press release 2nd December:

ALL ABOARD THE SKY GO MOVIES EXPRESS

- Sky Movies on demand arrives on Sky Go -

New research from Sky reveals 37% of people surveyed find travelling at Christmas one of the most stressful things about the festive season, second to Christmas shopping (45%) and ahead of cooking Christmas dinner (16.5%). The research also found that being delayed when travelling (63%) is the nation's biggest bugbear about Christmas.

With almost 80% of Brits travelling for up to 10 hours to visit friends and family for Christmas, the Sky Go Movies Express is launching to help ease festive travel woes. En route all those travelling will have iPads and laptops to watch the movies of their choice from the Sky Movies line-up on Sky Go, which enables people to watch films on demand whenever and wherever they want.

Sky is offering film fans free tickets for travel between London Euston and Birmingham New Street on December 22nd while enjoying a little movie magic on the way. Passengers will be able to sit in four classic train carriages, each given a movie makeover inspired by titles that will air on Sky Movies this December. Lucky film fans will have the unique opportunity to take a seat in snowy Narnia, enjoy Mary Poppins' Victorian London or be transported back to the 1940s in the elegant surroundings of Christmas classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' and Oscar®-winning 'The Kings Speech'.

Tamsin Egerton, who unveiled the Sky Go 'Movies Express' earlier this month, said, "For me Christmas is the ultimate time to settle down with a favourite festive film, and the Sky Go Movies Express will give some lucky movie fans the ultimate Christmas treat. For those heading home to loved ones for Christmas it will be like starring in their very own unique movie experience."

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies comments "We are delighted to offer such a unique and exciting experience to film fans this Christmas. The addition of Sky Movies on demand to Sky Go means customers can enjoy the great selection of films available this Christmas on Sky Movies whenever and wherever they want. We hope the new service will ease journeys across the UK for travellers this Christmas as they sit back and relax to enjoy their favourite movies on the go on their laptop, iPhone or iPad."

The Sky Go Movies Express departed from London Euston station on the morning of the 22nd December and travelled to Birmingham New Street. The return journey departed after 7pm on the same day. Tickets were completely free.
